Red is a colour with high visibility and emotional intensity, which is why many of our best-loved characters don the colour red. You'll be wanting to re-watch some of your favourite movies and tv series, as we get started on our tribute to some of the most iconic red characters.

Scarlet Witch

Also known as Wanda, daughter of X-men's villainous Magneto, this mutant sorceress appears in a stunning red outfit and has remained one of Marvel's best female characters.

The Flash

The Flash made his first appearance in his red attire in the 40s and has, since then, raced up buildings, across oceans and straight into our hearts. The character has only gained in popularity over the years, even receiving his own live action tv show in 2014.

Alvin's signature red jacket and cap has frequented both the television and cinema screens since the 50s. The singing chipmunk dressed in red has become one of the few cartoon characters to survive the test of time.

Sesame Street's most well-known furry red muppet is still as vibrant and popular as ever. Even though some of the other older muppets, such as Grover and Prairie Dawn, began to received reduced roles in the show, Elmo never lost his prominent status.
